Publisher's Description:
rss2html - A free PHP script, converts RSS feeds to HTML. The rss2html.php script allows webmasters to display RSS feeds on their website. RSS or Really Simple Syndication, as it is commonly known, is a technology that gives webmasters the ability to to easily distribute and publish syndicated content on the Internet. Most webmasters understand the potential benefits of making RSS feeds available for viewing in a web browser. FeedForAll's new rss2html.php script allows users to create webpages that will always display the most current information from the RSS feed, and because the resulting page is pure HTML, it will be in a format friendly to search engine robots. Using rss2html.php webmasters can customize the format and look of the web page created from the feed. The RSS feed's contents can easily be integrated into an existing website's theme. The rss2html.php script parses the RSS file, extracts the pertinent information, formats it, and serves it up as regular HTML. The rss2html.php script runs on any webserver that can run PHP scripts, and it support feeds in the RSS 2.0, .93, .92, .91, or .90, 1.0 format. The title says it all. RSS to HTML. This piece of module is very easy to use and customize the look and feel of the RSS content in HTML.
I recommend this for the novice PHP site manager or developer.

rss2html did, and will continue to do exactly what we wanted - to put RSS feeds from our blogs onto our Home Page to highlight the latest posts. We'd already tried Javascript Feed Gadgets, but we were looking for something that was free or almost free, that would display in our CSS styles and that wasn't dependent on a 3rd-party service website (we'd noted that some of the main players in rss to javascript had stopped playing, and at least one current one seems to be suggesting not to rely on them for long-term service). I knew when I downloaded rss2html that it was going to test my primitive scripting skills, and I wasn't wrong. It was a slightly bumpy ride at times, but although I'm not totally sure, I reckon the reason for the only really frustrating problem I encountered was due to a bad bit of pasting where I put an extra forward slash into a URL. So it isn't handed to you on a plate, but it's free and there's no advertising and it configures and displays as you want it - so long as you're not over-ambitious. For instance it doesn't retrieve images from individual blog posts, and (unless it's possible to nest PHP commands inside the HTML template that controls the output to your webpage) it's not possible to express post times in forms like "today", "2 hours ago", "yesterday", but we'll live happily without that because we love the way we can make it display feeds that look totally integral to our design. No frills about this, and be aware that the manual arrives as a text file, which is pretty well unreadable in a normal text editor - I think it's in formatted text, and needs to be opened in a wordprocesser that can recognise the format. I found the help I needed on the software providers forum. Well worth the effort. Because all the work is done on our Website Host's Server, and because the output is pure html, our website will look right to nearly everybody, something not guaranteed with Java or Flash.

Simple & intuitive
Looking over the code and the examples provided it was very easy to add some rss to existing webpages - this opened up a number of options not previously available and it was simple to do.

can`t get it going
I can't get it going. I'm not the most web inclined, but I can code HTML good enough to make a few pretty good websites. The program didn't come with good directions that are easy to read and I couldn't figure it out.
Any help would be awesome. 1/30/07 tmock2244@yahoo.com
